Long-standing clients HUT Architecture engaged with the Rainbow team to deliver a sustainability-focussed furniture solution for the refurbishment of 18 Clerkenwell Close.
The Brief
The client desired a sustainability and design-led CAT A+ floor and marketing spaces, for their iconic 70’s building in the heart of Clerkenwell. They needed Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FFE) that intrinsically utilised the base design of the scheme they had set out.
The Solution
Rainbow worked closely with the HUT Architecture team to deliver their design vision while balancing the appropriate budget and managing timelines; the fine balance was achieved to mirror the architecturally designed fitted pieces to be complementary to the space and sensitive to the heritage of the building.
Knowing that the importance of photography was key to the agents, Ellis Brown, being able to sell the space for our clients at Atlas, the Rainbow team organised loan coffee tables where some items had unforeseen delays. The team also oversaw the procurement of the dressing items for the space which finished off the space perfectly, bringing it to life.
Summary
The space notably brings a sense of wellbeing by blending the comfort of home with spaces for creativity, innovation and interaction. The project was delivered smoothly, with all stakeholders pleased with the completed installation – including the level of attention to detail with the final touches.
The project was put forward for multiple awards and featured in Architects Journal.
Key Outcomes
- Tailored & design-led sustainability: The project was design-led thinking, and featured sustainable elements including a considered selection of furniture pieces.
- Featured in Architects Journal: Not only was this project featured in Architects Journey, it was recognised for its heritage arch motif which was a specific design feature created by HUT.
- Awards: Shortlisted for Mix Interiors 5-10Ksqft Project of the Year 2025.
