The Officers’ Mess Duxford

20th December 2015

An iconic RAF base and headquarters during the Second World War, housing the heroes of the Battle Of Britain including Group Captain Sir Douglas Bader, Duxford air eld has been converted for a number of different purposes, and notably currently houses the aviation branch of the Imperial War Museum.

In early 2015 it was announced that Mantle Business Centres would be converting the derelict Officer’s Mess building for use as office space for small businesses, retaining many of the original features including the high ceilings, sash windows and cast iron radiators.

It was opened in late 2015 with the assistance of Rainbow, who procured systems furniture for the workspaces and loose pieces for The Heart, a central hub containing The Mess Café and a variety of relaxed seating.

A variety of update videos can be seen on Mantle’s YouTube channel, including the video above which shows the condition of the building before the renovation, as well as photos below showing the finished article!
