A British institution in working to help vulnerable children and young people, Barnardo’s brand new head office complex in Ilford is a vibrant, modern space, delivering on almost two years of work to marry both form and function for a busy global charity.
With its former head office premises in Barkingside no longer fit for purpose, Barnardo’s embarked on a regeneration programne to allow them to continue their important efforts.
Realised on the same site as the previous office, the project was, crucially, completely self-financing; not a single penny donated by the public to Barnardo’s was used.
…a vibrant, modern space, delivering on almost two years of work to marry both form and function for a busy global charity.
The building’s ample spaces make use of vibrant finishes alongside clean, bright interiors. Big, bold splashes of coloured fabric accent the sharp white finishes of the walls and furnishings; they can’t help but catch your eye, even through the vast exterior windows.
Rainbow worked closely with the charity to achieve its ideal outcome, bringing to bear an arsenal of tools to supply sketches, detailed drawings, floor plans, space plans and 3D renders – all produced in-house at Rainbow – to help Barnardo’s visualise the end product.
The scope of works, including the fit-out and furniture procurement, covers everything from systems furniture, task seating and storage wall units to soft furnishings, meeting room tables, desk electrics and monitor arms. Product from more than 20 manufacturers has come together to deliver on this earlier concept and design work, and it’s a really magnificent space.
